Don't Ignore Neck Pain

Neck pain is a common problem. So common that many who suffer from this ailment do not seek medical treatment. They might take an anti-inflammatory or apply heat to tender spots. But if neck pain does not improve after a week to a month, this warrants a visit to a doctor.

Seeing a chiropractor or other physician for neck discomfort does not indicate a major problem. In fact, some cases of neck discomfort result from poor sleeping posture or a strain. These are easily treatable. But in some instances, neck pain can point to a more serious problem, such as arthritis, nerve compression, meningitis and cancer.

I don't recommend treating neck pain at home. You should see a doctor if you experience any of the following.

1. Pain that persists for longer than two weeks

2. Pain that radiates down your arm

3. Pain that worsens despite attempts to treat the pain on your own.

4. Pain is accompanied by other symptoms, such as a fever or muscle weakness.

I'm a chiropractor in Tulsa who is concerned with your health.  Please schedule an appointment to get pain relief when you need it!
